Hell Yeah August!

As pointed out on MLB Tonight, 3 players have been thrown out of games in about two minutes. They were all batters who rejected the umpires’ opinion that they had been struck out.

Baseball Tonight

The past few days have kind of been a mess for me. However, there has been baseball every night and it has had an incalculable redeeming effect on my outlook on things. So much drama, so many big plays. Also, thanks to the few people who I can discuss baseball with in depth.

Dear Dillon Gee,

Please don’t walk Cliff Pennington again. Please. I’ve enjoyed seeing you pitch to a 7-0 record and it hurts to see you walk the same hitter twice in a row.

Thanks

*edit - So, Pennington hit a double. No more walks please?

Snazzy

The Detroit Tigers and Los Angeles Dodgers are starting a series in Los Angeles tonight.  Tonight’s starting pitchers are Brad Penny and Clayton Kershaw. I like this. Lets go Tigers!

MLB Roundup

I’ve had Major League Baseball as a source of excitement this past month, providing something in which I’m not expected to do anything and am not accountable for anything that happens. A few recent headlines have caught my eye and seem worthy of comment.

The AL Central continues to become more interesting, as the Twins and Indians won with walk-off homers yesterday. The way that Justin Verlander has been pitching for Detroit also cannot be ignored and is making me more and more of a Tigers fan.

I was disappointed to see Houston miss out on the chance to sweep the Dodgers last night. The Astros are my friend Lizz’s dad’s favorite team, and I would have cherished seeing them take out my least favorite MLB team from California on Father’s Day.

MLB has run a feature on Mets shortstop Jose Reyes and his ability to drill triples into the gaps in the outfield. It is well written and makes a good point, but to me it reads as an advertisement for the teams that can actually pay him a decent salary once he enters free agency at the end of the season.
