Seeing as it is June I have predictably been going to car / motorcycle shows. Here are a few of the nicer non-Harley-Davidson motorcycles that I’ve seen.
Between spending this past summer away from home and grinding it out through the winter months, I haven’t thought of motorcycles much lately. I pulled on my 4Q Custom Conditioning shirt this morning and decided to check Max Schaaf’s site again. I’m glad that I did, because I found a very nice bike featured there.
my buddy up north always puts together
real clean bikes. master woddworker and
all around good guy. his lady found the tins
at junk style flea market.
loookin goood.
There’s also an anecdote about Schaaf visiting his grandmother in Pittsburgh after getting a flat front tire in the midst of a lengthy motorcycle trip.
This blog is at least partially an attempt to justify the amount of time that I spend on the internet by sharing interesting things with other people. It’s also been a great way to stay more informed about some of the issues and events that I’m particularly interested in. I hope to have some lengthier written pieces in the future on literature or music, but the time for that hasn’t been forthcoming lately. For one thing, I’m hoping to finally finish Jean Genet’s Prisoner of Love before I return to school at the end of January. I’m going on another missions trip to New Orleans shortly after the beginning of the new year, so that might make an appearance as well. Thanks to all of you who have followed this blog or “liked” some of the material on/in it, it’s certainly encouraging.
Biker Gangs in Germany: Hells Angles and Bandidos Agree to a Truce (Spiegel Online International)
Worried about a nationwide ban, the Hells Angels and Bandidos are arranging a truce in Germany. For over a year the two biker gangs have been involved in violent conflict. But on Wednesday a ceasefire will be sealed with a handshake in Hanover.
Here are some more pictures of the motorcycles and cars that were at the Doud Post on Tuesday.
This past Tuesday I went to the weekly car and motorcycle show at the Doud Post / Rick’s Prime Rib on the west side of Rochester. Many of the bikes and cars there are owned by current or former Kodak employees. Many of the cars are heavily customized, and some include work that was probably done in a Kodak company factory. The Doud Post stands apart from all of the other area car shows because none of the owners seem to have opted not to do something to their car to make it run faster or make more noise.
The five pictures presented here are of a customized Bourget motorcycle that caught my eye as its owner rode it in. I am still trying to figure out if Bourget is an imported brand, a rare American brand, or strictly associated with this shop in Arizona. I am leaning towards the shop in Arizona. Either way, it was a nice change to see something other than the usual assortment of Harleys, Victory bikes and a few older Suzukis and Hondas.
Easy Rider (1969) Intro Credits featuring Steppenwolf’s Born to be Wild
The new family dog does not even have a name, yet this has been selected as his theme song.
I’ve seen some motorcycles out and about while driving around the past few days. I thought I’d share some more pictures, this time from the blog Hated of the World. I think that the last picture is of one of Max Schaaf’s bikes and that the picture shows the side of the gas tank without the 4Q logo. Like some of the other material linked here in the past, a content warning fits appropriately here.

On another note, I stopped at a Honda motorcycle dealership on the way home for Spring Break. There were some bikes there that I could afford, especially if I somehow finished school a semester early. Hmmmm …
